They did the map thing a couple of years ago with people from The Netherlands (Holland is just the old name of a county, and Amsterdam is a city/capital and our natonality is Dutch.... just to clear that up ;) ) visiting Spain. They had to find the location of their holiday on the map (where they were at that moment). Only a few people knew to point out Spain. But a lot of people pointed out some place in Azia or north/south america, because they thought that's where Europe was... So I think that's a general problem for all educated people around the world.
But not knowing about Israels religion or major news items as Al Qaida (or whatever they call themselves)or the war in Vietnam that is dumb ignorance.... :P
